HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum

Chairman
HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum has been at the forefront of Dubai’s remarkable economic development for more than 25 years.

HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum is the Chairman of Dubai Holding and has been at the forefront of Dubai’s remarkable economic development for more than 25 years.


Sheikh Ahmed holds a number of important government positions, including as Second Vice Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, which is responsible for formulating policies and strategies for the Emirate of Dubai, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Fiscal Committee, member of the Board of the Dubai Council for Economic Affairs, Chairman of Economic Development Committee and Board Member of the Dubai Corporation for Government Investment.


Sheikh Ahmed has been a highly successful corporate leader since 1985, when he was appointed President of the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman of the newly-launched Emirates Airline. He is the Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, which includes Dnata – the region’s leading travel services and ground handling company, and other aviation related entities.


Holder of a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from the University of Denver, Colorado, USA, Sheikh Ahmed has received many international honours, including the fellowship of the British Royal Aeronautical Society, Commandeur de l’Ordre de la Legion d’Honneur (the Legion of Honour) – the highest French civilian award, and the Verfassungsportugaleser, one of Germany’s highest honours.

Amit Kaushal

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Amit has also held several roles as a specialist in structured lending and private equity, focused largely on developing markets and has helped raise investment capital across several regions including the GCC and Central and Eastern Europe.

Amit Kaushal is the Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Holding, where he leads the diversified company’s operations in over 10 countries and across 12 industries.

Amit was the Chief Operating Officer at Meraas Holding LLC, a Dubai based holding conglomerate. Amit also held the position of Chief Financial & Investment Officer during his tenure at Meraas and was responsible for the Funding, Treasury, Strategic Capital and Corporate Finance businesses.

He sits on the board of a number of regional and international retail, hospitality and real estate organizations.

Amit has extensive experience in Investment Banking, joining Meraas from Goldman Sachs where he worked in the Investment Banking Division and having also worked at UBS and Deutsche Bank, both in London and Dubai.

Amit has also held several roles as a specialist in structured lending and private equity, focused largely on developing markets and has helped raise investment capital across several regions including the GCC and Central and Eastern Europe.

Amit is a British national, schooled and raised in Kenya before attending university in the UK.

He holds a Masters of Philosophy from the University of Cambridge and a BSc (First Class Hons) in Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics from the University of Warwick.

Khalid Al Malik

MANAGING DIRECTOR
Al Malik is also responsible for the company’s international real estate investments in places such as Malta, Kochi, and Morocco as well as managing its strategic relations with local and international investors, and its government affairs.

Khalid Al Malik is the Managing Director of Dubai Holding, where he leads the real estate portfolio including urban planning and infrastructure strategy and development, as well as overseeing the land bank – one of the Emirate’s largest. He is also responsible for the company’s international real estate investments in places such as Malta, Kochi, and Morocco as well as managing its strategic relations with local and international investors, and its government affairs.

Al Malik also lends his expertise to key real estate projects within Dubai Holding’s subsidiaries, where he also serves as Dubai Properties’ Chief Executive Officer.

In the past, Al Malik has held a number of key positions within the Dubai government and private sector, including Director of Operations at the Dubai Development and Investment Authority, CEO of Dubai Industrial City and CEO of Tatweer.

He is currently on the board of several organizations including SmartCity Malta, SmartCity Kochi, Empower, Noor Bank, Dubai Creek Harbor, UAE International Investment Council, and is also a member of the Dubai Council for the Future Cities.

Al Malik holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona, USA, with a double major in Management Information Systems and Production and Operations Management. He also has a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Zayed University, UAE. He is a graduate of the Government Leaders’ Program, a component of the Mohammed bin Rashid Program for Leadership Development.

Edward Sunna

CHIEF LEGAL OFFICER
Edward has more than 21 years’ experience in legal practice and strategy in the areas of construction, engineering, utilities, infrastructure, real estate development, corporate, commercial, capital markets, banking and finance, cross border transactions and arbitration.

Edward holds the position of Chief Legal Officer at Dubai Holding. Edward founded the legal function of the Meraas Group where he was the Chief Legal Officer and also the General Legal Advisor at the Engineering Office – The Private Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, a post he held from 2008.

He has more than 21 years’ experience in legal practice and strategy in the areas of construction, engineering, utilities, infrastructure, real estate development, corporate, commercial, capital markets, banking and finance, cross border transactions and arbitration.

Prior to moving in‐house, Edward led Al Tamimi & Company’s construction law practice and acted for various government institutions and publicly listed corporations both locally and internationally; and was internationally rated during his time in private practice.

He is a Chartered Arbitrator and fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators; he is on the panel of some of the leading arbitration centres including the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the LCIA‐ DIFC Arbitration Centre, the Dubai International Arbitration Centre and the Singapore International Arbitration Centre.

Edward is a former part‐time member of staff at Heriot‐Watt University, Dubai Campus; he was an Advisor with the Dubai Real Estate Institute and the author of numerous publications. He also lectured for the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Edward Sunna holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science with Honours and Industrial Relations from the University of New South Wales in Australia. He also has a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia, and is admitted as a barrister of the High Court of Australia, a solicitor in NSW and an admitted legal practitioner of the DIFC Courts in Dubai.

Huda Buhumaid

CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER
Buhumaid successfully steers Dubai Holding's marketing and communications strategy, with oversight for the group’s portfolio of companies, including Jumeirah Group, Dubai Properties, TECOM Group, Dubai Asset Management, Dubai Retail and Arab Media Group.

Huda Buhumaid is Dubai Holding’s Chief Marketing Officer, with responsibility for the conglomerate’s branding, marketing, corporate communications, public relations and corporate social responsibility.

Since joining Dubai Holding in 2006, Buhumaid has successfully launched several strategic projects both at the corporate office level and at its portfolio companies, which have received numerous national and international awards.

Prior to joining Dubai Holding’s Corporate Office, Buhumaid was Managing Director – Marketing & Communications at Dubai Group, where she oversaw the marketing and communications strategies for Dubai Group’s subsidiaries in various international markets. Buhumaid successfully developed and launched new brand identities for companies such as Borse Dubai, Emirates Investment Authority, as well as re-branding Dubai International Financial Exchange into NASDAQ Dubai.

Previously, Buhumaid worked with Citibank UAE as Assistant Vice President – Marketing and Business Development. At Citibank, Buhumaid launched several “first” initiatives, including the online and mobile banking services, which received several advertising recognitions.

Buhumaid is a graduate of the Executive Leadership Programme, INSEAD, UAE, and holds a Master’s Degree in Organisational Excellence with Honours from Bradford University, UK and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Higher Colleges of Technology, Dubai.

Buhumaid is a board member at Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, Dubai Women's Establishment, "Hala China" (a Dubai Holding and Meraas joint venture), and Uptown School Advisory Board. She is the Vice Chair of the Private Sector Advisory Council and a member of Dubai International Communications Committee. 

Omar Karim

CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER
Omar has extensive experience as an adviser and principal, having worked at both international and state-owned financial institutions with specialist roles across private equity, mergers & acquisitions and capital markets.

Omar Karim is the Chief Investment Officer of Dubai Holding, where he is responsible for driving the overall investment strategy for the Group and overseeing the execution and management of portfolio investments.

Omar has extensive experience as an adviser and principal, having worked at both international and state-owned financial institutions with specialist roles across private equity, mergers & acquisitions and capital markets.

Prior to joining Dubai Holding, Omar was a Senior Vice President in Investments and Strategic Capital at Meraas, a Dubai based holding conglomerate.

He trained as an investment banker and spent the majority of his career at UBS Investment Bank, where he was responsible for the execution of a broad range of mergers, acquisitions, debt and equity financing transactions with clients across the consumer & retail, telecommunications & media and real estate sectors. Omar also covered sovereign wealth funds from the GCC providing strategic advice to assist them enter, manage and exit their international investments.

Omar holds several board positions with companies operating in the real estate, hospitality and technology sectors.

Omar received a Bachelor of Accounting and Finance, with high distinction, from Monash University, Australia.
