Dubai Holding has played an instrumental role in the development of Dubai’s dynamic media industry, and continues to innovate and grow one of the Emirate’s most established business sectors.
Dubai Media City
Since the creation of one of TECOM Group’s flagship business communities, Dubai Media City (DMC) in 2001, the Emirate’s media industry has gone from strength to strength, and Dubai is now the region’s leading hub for media and production. DMC is a buzzing community of nearly 2,000 regional and international media companies, employing over 33,800 employees work across communications, media, marketing and advertising sectors.
Dubai Studio City
Following great demand from media companies to come and set up in Dubai after the establishment of DMC, particularly production companies, Dubai Studio City (DSC) was created in 2005, to complement DMC on a much larger scale.
To cater to production and post-production companies, DSC launched its Sound Stages in 2013, the largest in the region, which have welcomed major international productions such as Master Chef Arabia and Star Trek Beyond, its cutting-edge infrastructure and facilities, such as green screen, indoor water tanks and recording studios, are unrivalled anywhere else in the region.
Dubai Production City
Branching out to accommodate printing, packaging and publishing sectors, TECOM Group’s Dubai Production City (formally International Media Production Zone), was established in 2007. It too has supported the growth of Dubai’s media ecosystem by providing a dedicated industry-specific infrastructure as well as an excellent platform for the implementation of new technology, such as 3D printing.
Evolution of the Media Industry
Dubai’s media community continues to grow at a rapid pace, and is already firmly established as a global media hub.
