Dubai Health Authority felicitates Dubai Holding for ‘The Perfect Gift is Saving Lives’ blood donation campaign

Dubai Health Authority (DHA) organised a ceremony today to felicitate Dubai Holding – a diversified global investment company with operations in 13 countries – for its support and contribution towards successfully concluding ‘The Perfect Gift is Saving Lives’ blood donation campaign.

The campaign helped collect 770 blood units for the Dubai Blood Donation Centre (DBDC).  The campaign kicked off on 1 April 2021 and operated using a state-of-the-art blood donation bus contributed by Dubai Holding to DBDC. The blood donation bus conducted 26 visits to 16 locations of Dubai Holding’s communities and retail destinations and saw strong participation across all the locations, with almost 920 donors representing 71 nationalities, many of whom have also registered with DBDC to become regular donors. Dubai Holding employees volunteered 160 hours onsite to support the DHA teams during the campaign.

Dr Younis Kazim, CEO of Dubai Healthcare Corporation at the DHA, presented a certificate and momento to Khalid Al Malik, Managing Director of Dubai Holding, to appreciate the organisation’s effort and contribution towards this humanitarian initiative.

Dr Kazim said: “Dubai Holding has shown exemplary support and dedication towards the noble cause of blood donation. From providing a state-of-the-art blood donation bus to carrying out blood donation drives across communities in Dubai, they have shown commitment and dedication towards this cause. We are thankful for their support and we look forward to working together on this and other important health campaigns.”

Khalid Al Malik, Managing Director of Dubai Holding said: “At Dubai Holding, we are committed to supporting and leading initiatives that help enhance the wellbeing and enrich the lives of our community members. We are extremely proud of the positive impact that has been achieved in this regard as part of our strategic partnership with the Dubai Health Authority. Together, and through joint blood donation campaigns such as The Perfect Gift is Saving Lives, we were able to unite thousands of people on a humanitarian journey and encourage them to become lifesavers. We are honoured to be frontrunners towards achieving a prosperous future for all and look forward to helping save more lives For the Good of Tomorrow.”

Dr Hussain Al Samt, Director of DHA’s Pathology and Genetics Department, thanked Dubai Holding for the continuous effort and support towards the life-saving and noble cause of blood donation. Dr Al Samt also encouraged community members to continuously donate blood for the benefit of patients, especially those with Thalassemia who require regular blood transfusions.

DBDC receives blood donations from more than 149 nationalities with more than 65,300 registered blood donors, and the Centre provides around 50% of the total blood collected in the country, ensuring that those in need in both public and private hospitals have access to safe and timely supply of regular blood and blood components such as platelets and plasma.
