Dubai Holding raises funds for MSF

DUBAI, 8 June 2009: The Group's participation in the Vertical Marathon was the latest initiative under Dubai Holding's Corporate Wellness Programme. The programme is one of the first corporate initiatives in the region that seeks to encourage physical activity among its employees and tackle the rising menace of obesity.

The Vertical Marathon was organized by the Big Green Apple gym in the Boulevard at Jumeirah Emirates Towers to benefit Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), with the support of the Red Crescent Society. The event, which saw 185 people take part, raised more than Dhs161,375 for MSF.

A Dubai Holding team, led by Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad bin Byat secured the team trophy in the recently held sixth annual charity Vertical Marathon, at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai.

The team, which also included Fadel Al Ali, Executive Chairman, Dubai Holding Operations; Ali Tabbal, Chief Financial Officer and Cedric Betis, Corporate Wellness Manager, climbed 52 floors and 1,334 steps, of the office tower, in a time of 12 minutes and 28 seconds.

A second Dubai Holding team, consisting of Khalid Al Shafar Marketing Director, Group Marketing, Adnan Akeel, Finance Manager and Youssef Soubra, Treasury Analyst were runners up in the team competition in a time of 14 minutes and 02 seconds. Dubai Holding was the most represented organization in the competition with five teams entered.
