Dubai Holding partners with Dubai Health Authority to support blood donation

DUBAI, 5 February 2013: Dubai Holding, a global investment holding company, has partnered with Dubai Blood Donation Centre (DBDC) of Dubai Health Authority to hold blood donation drives across its companies and communities throughout the year.

The first donations took place at Dubai Holding’s corporate offices and recorded an impressive turnout of 60 donors, who collectively contributed 27 litres of blood. The blood donation drives are set to take place across Dubai Holding’s companies on a monthly basis; this includes Jumeirah Group, TECOM Investments, Dubai Properties Group and Emirates International Telecommunications.

As one of the Emirate’s largest employers with sizeable residential communities, Dubai Holding is committed to supporting the Government’s efforts to ensure the constant availability of blood in Dubai’s Blood Banks. Ahmad Bin Byat, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Holding, was amongst the first to donate blood. He said: “I want to thank all my colleagues who donated blood. It was a successful start to many Dubai Holding supported blood donation drives planned this year. Blood donation is a noble act of solidarity that reflects our commitment to the community, and I would like to encourage more people to participate in the upcoming initiatives.”

The blood donation campaign is a new pillar of Dubai Holding’s Corporate Wellness Programme, which was founded in 2007. One of the most recent initiatives under the Dubai Holding Wellness Programme is Dubai Holding’s support of Dubai Marathon for the sixth consecutive year. The Company has also sent an expedition of executives to trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in support of an educational centre for challenged individuals. Furthermore, Dubai Holding has participated in the Global Corporate Challenge for two consecutive years and has been sponsoring the Vertical Marathon since 2003. In the past, Dubai Holding has also sponsored the Dubai Women’s Run.
