Abdulhamid Juma appointed Deputy Director General of Dubai Technology and Media

DUBAI, 23 August 2006: Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority (DTMFZA) announced today the appointment of Abdulhamid Juma as Deputy Director General.

Juma will play a strategic role in steering the development of the free zone's regulatory framework and deliver high level direction and support in the implementation of the free zone's corporate strategies.

In addition, Juma will supervise overall management of the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), Dubai's leading global cultural event. As one of the founders, Juma's in-depth knowledge of the festival will be a key asset in furthering its success on local, regional and international levels.

Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority was established as part of realising Dubai's vision to transform itself into a knowledge economy. The free zone is now home to more than 2,000 companies across diverse knowledge industries.

Ahmad Bin Byat, Director General of Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority said: "Abdulhamid has played a pivotal role in developing Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone into a thriving business community. With his experience, leadership and energy, he has been a key contributor in establishing this unique cluster of knowledge-based industries.

Juma was a key member of the successful management team that enabled Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone to grow into an ICT business campus of choice for international knowledge-based companies. As its Chief Executive Officer from 2002-2005, he led Dubai Media City's remarkable development into a global media cluster, forging several strategic alliances with leading regional and international media organizations.
