Dubai Healthcare City Celebrates Arab Health Success

Dubai: 1 February, 2010 – Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), a member of TECOM Investments, has announced positive results from its participation at Arab Health 2010 and 45% year-on-year growth in business partners over the past 7 years.

Dr Ayesha Abdullah, Senior Vice President of Dubai Healthcare City said:

The four days at Arab Health were marked by many highlights. We were privileged to receive His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to our stand on the opening day and Her Royal Highness Princess Haya on the closing day. I also met with Professor the Lord Darzi of Denham KBE at DHCC where we discussed building on the success of our strategic partnership with Moorfield’s Eye Hospital and DHCC also welcomed a number of other delegations on site including the Danish Health Minister and German State Secretary for Health.

DHCC takes particular pride in its stringent quality standards and through our independent regulatory body, the Center for Healthcare Planning and Quality, we have worked hard to build a home for world-class healthcare, operating within a framework that maintains healthcare excellence and prioritizes patient needs. This is evidenced again by our announce at Arab Health of the upcoming arrival of the 6,800 square foot Samsung Medical Center in cooperation with INDEX Holdings to DHCC –a leading provider of state-of-the-art healthcare with a 15-year track record.

I am also pleased to announce that DHCC has just welcomed Halman Neurotherapy Center – the first private stem cell therapy clinic in the UAE. This facility caters to patients suffering from neurological diseases, spinal cord injuries, cerebral infractions, cranial trauma and ALS and performs surgeries in DHCC and Dubai-based hospitals. Within the coming months it will also include a laboratory,

Dr Abdullah added.

To add to this success, Dr. Azad Moopen MD, Chairman of DM Healthcare Group which operates Eurohealth Systems at Dubai Healthcare City received the prestigious Arab Health 2010 Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Middle East Healthcare Industry.

Dr Moopen said:

This award is a testament to my commitment towards the development of healthcare in the region. The healthcare industry has a wider role to play in providing quality and affordable facilities to all. I am thankful to my staff and colleagues who have contributed to our mission in striving for healthcare excellence.

In the past 7 years, DHCC has grown into a city of over 90 outpatient medical centers and diagnostic laboratories, 2 hospitals and over 100 commercial healthcare and retail services. Just last year, DHCC attracted over 200,000 patients. The breadth and quality of healthcare services at DHCC are unique to the region and include cardiology, dentistry, dermatology, ENT, endocrinology, family medicine, general surgery, internal medicine, immunology, neurology, obstetrics, ophthalmology, orthopedic, physical therapy, plastic surgery, radiology, special needs and urology. DHCC is also home to major pharmaceutical brands including Johnson and Johnson, Novartis, Sanofi Aventis and Wyeth.

Dr. Abdullah said:

We have remained focused on building a healthcare infrastructure that meets unmet healthcare needs and recent additional specialties such homeopathy, fertility treatment and stem cell therapy means that patients can receive more treatments close to home with the full confidence that our services and healthcare professionals meet the highest international quality standards.
