Dubai: 5 May, 2009 – Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), a member of Tatweer, today announced it will support the Abu Dhabi-GCC Health and Development Investment Forum 2009, as part of its strategy to promote initiatives that foster collaboration for public-private healthcare sector development, as well as technology and knowledge transfer, and business networking among life sciences professionals.
As the world’s first healthcare free zone, DHCC was established to address the need for healthcare excellence in the region. It is made up of over 80 clinics and 1,200 medical practitioners, with leading brands such as Harvard University, Boston University, Mayo Clinic, Moorfields Eye Hospital, Johnson and Johnson and Novartis based there. The Investment Forum is an important opportunity for DHCC to build relations with like-minded stakeholders with an interest in creating world-class healthcare in Dubai.
Dr. Ayesha Abdullah, Senior Vice-President of DHCC, will address the forum on healthcare development in the region, highlighting the phenomenal strides DHCC has taken as the region’s leading integrated healthcare destination.
Dr. Abdullah said:
Establishing high quality and accessible medical systems is a global challenge. Increasing public-private collaboration and optimal coordination of health systems and development across the UAE is vital if we are to deliver a world class health infrastructure that benefits all. DHCC is delighted to offer its support to an important international forum that will facilitate partnerships for the benefit of the UAE and the region.
The first of its kind to be held in the UAE capital, the Forum will run from 11-12 May at the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) in Abu Dhabi, and bring together over 400 industry thought-leaders to focus on opportunities for building sustainable, high-quality health systems in the emerging markets.
Organized by ‘The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria’, The National Investor and Santeum Partners, the two-day forum will offer an insight into cutting-edge presentations, panel discussions, open sessions and networking events. It will also serve as a platform for public and private sector decision makers, service providers, investors, not-for-profits and sovereign wealth funds to debate, learn and share best practices on building and funding best-in-class health systems.
Delegates will include professionals in healthcare finance and banking, not-for-profit organisations, health authorities and associations, academia, and the pharmaceutical services industry of the GCC countries.
The Abu Dhabi-GCC Health and Development Investment Forum 2009 is being supported by DHCC, the Abu Dhabi Department of Planning and Economy, Al Qudra Health Care, the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, BIO Ventures for Global Health, and Sanofi-Aventis.
