Dubai Knowledge Village Felicitates Business Partners at Annual Iftar Gathering

Dubai: 6 September, 2009 – Dubai Knowledge Village (DKV), a member of TECOM Investments, today announced it has honoured 79 business partners for their association with the cluster since 2004 and for contributing to its overall success as a global destination for human resource management and learning excellence.

Abdullah Rashed Al Suwaidi, Director-General, UAE Ministry for Social Affairs, graced the annual Iftar gathering held at Murooj Rotana Dubai. The event was attended by senior officials, business leaders, industry professionals and more than 300 guests.

Al Suwaidi said:

The UAE Ministry of Social Affairs has developed a concerted role in social responsibility by establishing a fund under the Council of Ministers, with the vision to elevate the levels of social and welfare services in the community.

As part of this mandate, the UAE Government is keen to expand the role of the private sector depending on its commitment and involvement in such activities.

He added:

The initiatives that were launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, have achieved significant participation from the society. Initiatives such as Dubai Cares and Noor Dubai serve as benchmarks for the private sector to support the social responsibility cause.

Presenting certificates of appreciation to the business partners, Dr Ayoub Kazim, Executive Director, Dubai Knowledge Village and Dubai International Academic City, said:

Human capital being one of the key enablers of knowledge economy, we believe facilitating the formation of a competent talent pool is central to a dynamic national approach to diverse economic, social and cultural challenges we face today.

Today, I am proud that DKV has achieved several significant milestones and continues to fulfil its mandate of promoting human resource development in Dubai and the wider region.
