Malek Al Malek to Present Keynote Address on Significance of Region’s ICT Cluster

Dubai: 16 September, 2009 – Dubai Internet City, the region’s largest managed Information and Communications Technology cluster (ICT), and a member of TECOM Investments, today announced it will be the strategic sponsor for GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2009, the region’s largest industry event, for the ninth consecutive year.

To be held from 18-22 October at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, the GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK will showcase global brands, multinational corporations and technology leaders that will converge in Dubai for a week of product launches and key industry meetings. The event will also offer opportunities for networking and building discerning partnerships with industry professionals.

Dubai Internet City will join hands with Sony Ericsson, AJ Management Consultants,  and Maktoob.com among an impressive lineup of other key business partners at its pavilion located on Concourse 2, between Exhibition Hall 8 and the Sheikh Maktoum Hall.

Through our participation at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2009, Dubai Internet City seeks to support the development of the region’s ICT industry. Al Malek will deliver a keynote presentation/address on ‘The significance of the ICT cluster in the region’ on the third day as part of the daily panel discussions at the global conference.

AJ Consulting will also showcase the technology on the revamped Dubai Internet City web portal that will enable online users to engage sophisticated tools to enhance their experience.

Maktoob.com, the largest Arab online community will also be at the DIC pavilion showcasing its services as a leading Arabic internet destination in the Middle East.
Under a recent acquisition agreement with Yahoo!, Maktoob and Yahoo will look to combine the local expertise on a global scale providing a revolutionary online experience for consumers in the Arab world and a platform for advertisers in the region. The Arab world is set to receive a Yahoo! experience in Arabic with relevant local language content, programming and services.

As the region’s leading managed ICT cluster, Dubai Internet City has to date welcomed 90 business partners this year and continues to propel the region’s sustained growth in the sector.
