Gerard's areas of legal expertise consist of regulatory, legislative, banking, and private client services. Prior to Dubai Holding, Hobby was Chief Legal Officer at the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority, now called the Dubai Creative Clusters Authority (DCCA).
Gerard Hobby holds the position of Chief Legal Officer at Dubai Holding and has occupied this role since the inception of the Group in 2004. Dubai Holding is a global investment holding company based in Dubai, UAE with interests in 24 countries, employing over 22,000 people.
Hobby has over 24 years of experience in public and private legal practice. These include senior corporate and commercial capacities in Dubai-based law firms, as well as in-house counselling to the Ministry of Finance in Bahrain.
Furthermore, Hobby is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand, and a member of the Law Society of England and Wales. Currently, he sits as Chairman of Dubai Holding’s Executive Human Capital Committee (EHCC).
Gerard holds both a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Canterbury, and a Certificate in Corporate Governance from INSEAD Business School.Our Leadership
