Dubai Holding, the global investment holding company, in collaboration with Dubai Health Authority’s Dubai Blood Donation Centre (DBDC), held its annual blood donation drive in 2016 at its headquarters in Jumeirah Emirates Towers; marking the 20th donation drive to date. Dubai Holding along with its companies have collectively donated more than 1,000 units of blood since the initiation of the donation drive programme in 2013.

Fadel Al Ali, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Holding, said: “Dubai Holding is proud of its partnership with the Dubai Blood Donation Centre and the positive difference it makes in supporting our hospitals and medical centres. Our commitment to supporting the Blood Bank continues to grow year after year with donations from generous donors within our residential, retail, entertainment and business communities. It is a reflection of the deep community spirit so many people hold dear and the passion they have for supporting the wellbeing of the population.”

Commenting on the donor turnout, Dr May Raouf, Director of the Dubai Blood Donation Centre, said: “While primarily seen as a charitable cause, blood donation also benefits the donor through regular medical check-up. It is a pleasure to work with a partner such as Dubai Holding which, through its support, ensures our community is able to receive lifesaving blood donations.”

She added: “It is extremely encouraging to see the number of Dubai Holding donors grow year on year. As a business enterprise, Dubai Holding is leading by example in supporting the Government’s efforts in ensuring continuous supply of blood in Dubai’s blood banks.”

Over the course of four years, Dubai Holding’s blood donation drives have grown to become a key component of the Corporate Wellness Programme, attracting increasing levels of participation each year. Like other activities and events under the Programme, these blood drives are part of Dubai Holding’s efforts to raise awareness of health risks and guide people across the Group and beyond towards adopting healthy lifestyles. The Dubai Holding Wellness Programme is an award-winning programme that will mark its 10 years in 2017.

Last year, Dubai Holding won a number of accolades for its Corporate Wellness Programme; “Corporate Health and Wellness Organisation” and “Corporate Wellness Team of the Year” awards at the Daman Corporate Health Awards, award for “Corporate Wellness Initiative of the Year” at the FIT Awards, and the Institute for Health and Productivity Management’s International Corporate Health and Productivity Management Award. The latter award positions Dubai Holding as the first UAE and the second regional company till date to have achieved international recognition for wellness at the workplace.
