Dubai Outsource Zone Pioneers Implementation of Solar Power Solution in Deal with ENPARK Business Partner

PLTSolar Successfully Installs 15 Energy Efficient Units at DOZ Car Park

Dubai: 09 September, 2008 – Dubai Outsource Zone  (DOZ), the first dedicated zone for the outsourcing industry in the world, and a member of TECOM Investments , today announced it has adopted solar photovoltaic (SPV) technology for its car park, making the premises carbon neutral with zero energy cost.

Dubai Outsource Zone opted for the GRENlite™ technology to resolve the phenomenal challenge of lighting as extending conventional electrical cables to the car park area would have led to a significant jump in installation costs.

The SPV systems are stand-alone and powered by an SPV panel with a pole mounted battery providing energy storage for night usage. The solar powered lights are self-contained, requiring no trenching, cabling or power connections, and made operational at very short notice. A total of 15 units have been installed at the DOZ car park, providing a similar degree of illumination as conventional lighting.

The solution was recommended by TECOM Investments’ Sustainable Energy and Environment Division (SEED). It was implemented by PTLSolar, a pioneering solar products and solutions provider in the Middle East and Africa, and a leading business partner of TECOM’s Energy and Environment Park (ENPARK).

The solar-powered car park lights are completely integrated, self-contained, waterproof and compact. Offering high performance, the lights are field-proven to provide reliable round-the-clock operation with no scheduled maintenance for up to five years.
